It's almost mythology now. Started in 1990 as a box of tapes in
someone's apartment, Righteous Babe Records has grown into a real
life, functioning, indie. This fall (or winter, if you're a cynic),
Righteous Babe will be releasing two CDs. One from Arto Lindsay,
and the other from Sekou Sundiata. This marks the first time RBR will
be issuing CDs with no Ani content on them whatsoever.
Still located in downtown Buffalo, the Righteous Babe office is home
to 14 staff members, and just keeps growing like a beast. In true
luddite fashion, they still have no presence on the web. In all honesty, I
doubt there will be a page anytime soon. (Unless they hire me to do it,
in which case I could assure you there'd be no web page anytime soon
(-:)
However, there is a lone Righteous E-mail Babe who puts out an
electronic newsletter know as the Righteous Reader. Released semi-bi-
whenhehasthetime-monthly, it keeps the online world up to date on the
goings on of Righteous Babe records.
For a catalog of current Righteous Babe merchandise, or to place an
order, you can call them at 1 - 800 - on - her - own. The catalog includes
CDs, t-shirts, posters, stickers, and all the other things that have
nothing to do with music, but everything to do with a record label.
Phone hours are nine to five EST; Monday through Friday. Tell them
Janet, the passive aggressive cow sent you.
