Back in Portland there’s a coffee shop called the Dugout near where I used to work. It had been there for years, right across from PGE park. The original owner had decided to retire, and this young kid (20) had taken over. Nicest guy you’d ever meet, worked his ass off.
Thursday morning at around 12:30 AM they pulled his body out of the Columbia River Gorge. Investigators are treating it as a homicide, but some of his last Myspace blog entries make you think it could be a suicide.
I can’t say he was a close friend, except that almost anyone you buy coffee from in a local Portland joint is your friend.
April is a fucked up month, the sooner it’s over, the better.
